Hub Highlights: February 2024

Welcome to another Hub Highlight! We had a fantastic month of February with great insights, powerful workshops, and exceptional learning. We are always impressed with all the amazing things our community members are leading, and are so proud to be a part of these exceptional events. Now onto the main event; all the workshops and panels we welcomed to the Hub during the month of February.

Capstone Project Presentation

Our project management students took center stage and showcased their innovative solutions to real-world challenges on February 1st. It was a testament to their dedication and teamwork, and we were all blown away by the magic they created. Thanks to the dedication of their program and project coordinators Deanna Davies and Toye Akinwumi for making these projects possible.

"Working Around the World" Workshop

On February 7th The Innovation Hub saw global collaboration as Deanna Davies brought back her project management students from SLC as well as partners from South Africa and Holland to tackle real-world problems. It was a melting pot of cultures and perspectives, and the outcomes were truly unique.

Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Club Workshops

We saw data and AI explored through cutting-edge analytics tools and technologies throughout the month. We got to participate in BDAI’s workshops analyzing data, watched as their skills were applied to real-world challenges, and saw how data can drive positive change.

Repair Together 3-day build Sprint

On the week of February 13th we had the honour of hosting Heather Reid, the founder of Repair Together. She taught us the art of repairing electronic devices and keeping them out of landfills. It was a practical and eco-friendly experience that showed us how we can contribute to sustainability. With a great end as 17 devices were refurbished. Enactus SLC Chill Zone

February 22nd, the Hub welcomed another Chill Zone by the Enactus SLC team, a space that offered a sanctuary with soft lighting, music, and comfortable seating. The Chill Zone also partnered with Realms to give students a chance to chill in virtual reality, as well as a corner focusing on water paints through a Footprint SLC collaboration, colouring, snacks, and beverages were offered to continue with the chill vibes. This space served as a hub for conversations, laughter, and camaraderie, creating a sense of belonging. The Chill Zone was a reminder to students of the importance of self-care and emotional well-being during demanding times.

Inspiring Healthcare Panel

Our month ended on a high note, on February 23rd  an inspiring panel featuring Uche Udoha, Dr. Osayi Egbon, Siah Wollie, and Patrick C. Egbunonu. Their personal stories and experiences were moving, and we were reminded that anything is possible with determination and passion.

That's a wrap for our incredible February! We're grateful to everyone who made it possible. If you have fresh ideas or visions for future collaborations, don't hesitate to reach out. Together, let's continue making a positive impact. Until next time, stay curious and keep pushing the boundaries of innovation!
